Kep - far from the madding crowd

People visit Cambodia to see the temples of Angkor Wat in Siem Reap...some of them venture into the capital Phnom Penh. But Kep, a small sea side resort close to the border with Vietnam, is not on many tourist maps (other than of course the residents of Cambodia). So an obvious advantage - you can enjoy the natural beauty of Kep without the crowds.

Once a popular beach town, Kep went through difficult times during the reign of the Khmer Rouge. It still bears the scars of that time - abandoned villas...and an unfinished king's palace.

It's sweeping sidewalks though, are a reminder of it's former grandness; the benches dotting the sidewalks a great place to admire the magnificent vistas...before you head off to the local seafood joint for your fix of delicious crabs, squids...and lots more.
